Cu Tom Hanks si Meg Ryan in roluri principale, filmul este o comedie romantica exceptionala. Fox detine un lant de librarii care prin deschiderea uneia noi duce la faliment micuta librarie pentru copii condusa de Kathleen Kelly. In tot acest timp, cei doi au corespondat pe internet, fara a sti cu cine discuta de fapt. In viata de zi cu zi cei doi nu se suporta, dar cand discuta pe internet sunt foarte atrasi unul de altul. Joe Fox afla adevarul si incepe sa-i placa din ce in ce mai mult de Kelly, insa ea il uraste in continuare. Joe va trebui sa-si foloseasca toate resursele pentru a castiga iubirea ei. Oricine a experimentat vreodata sentimentul iubirii va gasi acest film ca fiind o capodopera.

Summary: Kathleen Kelly, owner of a little and famous bookstore for children’s books, has an affair. Being together with Frank Navasky, a well-known journalist, she betrays him by e-mailing secretly and anonymously with a (also betraying) man whom she met in a chat room. Suddenly, her business gets endangered by the opening of Fox Books discount store just “around the corner”. She meets Joe Fox, son of the owner, and soon gets annoyed by his arrogant way of managing business matters. Although getting advice by her anonymous mail-pal, she has to close down her store. Julia Roberts si Cameron Diaz isi scot armele din dotare si pornesc la lupta pentru cucerirea aceluiasi barbat. Problema consta in faptul ca Julianne (Julia Roberts) l-a avut pe acest barbat la indemina mai multi ani, dar niciodata nu a fost capabila sa faca primul pas sau sa-i ceara sa ia o decizie.
Michael (Dermont Mulroney) si Julianne au fost cindva impreuna, dar dupa ce s-au despartit au ramas prieteni buni. In anul in care amindoi implinesc 28 de ani, fiecare decide sa faca ceva cu viata sa amoroasa. Julianne se lamenteaza ca nu a gasit acel barbat, pe care il asteapta cu nerabdare inca din adolescenta, iar Michael trece la treaba si ii da prietenei sale o veste bomba : si-a gasit perechea si se insoara in trei saptamini. Din nefericire, aleasa lui Michael nu este Julianne, desi ea astepta doar un cuvint ca sa-si dea acceptul.
Viitoarea mireasa, Kimmy (Cameron Diaz) nu prevede pericolul, ea privind-o pe Julianne ca pe cea mai buna prietena a viitorului sau sot si nicidecum ca pe o rivala in dragoste. Lucrurile scapa putin cate putin de sub control, pe masura ce se apropie ziua nuntii. Kimmy draguta, dulce, amabila si indragostita pina peste urechi nu este pregatita pentru lupta « murdara » care va incepe in curind.
Apelind la ajutorul unui prieten homosexual, Julianne incepe atacul. Intentiile sale sunt clare : trebuie sa faca orice pentru ca aceasta nunta sa nu mai aiba loc.
Filmul reuseste sa imbine miraculos situatiile comice, cu dragostea si cu o muzica desavirsita, pentru care a si fost nominalizat la Premiul Oscar. De asemenea, filmul a mai cistigat premii pentru cea mai buna comedie a anului 1998, a fost nominalizat la 3 sectiuni pentru Globul de Aur si la tot atatea cateorii la MTV Movie Awards. Lupta dintre sexe se încinge în Adevărul gol-goluţ, o comedie isteaţă şi sexy despre bărbaţi, femei şi prăpastia dintre felurile în care gândim unii despre ceilalţi, visăm, sau ne încercăm puterea de seducţie asupra sexului opus. Între Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up, “Grey’s Anatomy”) şi Gerard Butler (300) ies scântei pentru că ei sunt doi colegi care par sortiţi să se dispreţuiască veşnic. Ea e hotărâtă să-şi găsească partenerul ideal, scornit de visele ei. El vrea să le transmită femeilor mesajul că trebuie să fie mai realiste şi să admită că bărbaţii nu au decât un singur scop. Dar exact atunci când el se decide să o ajute pe Abby să obţină ceea ce vrea, cei doi îşi dau seama cu stupoare cât de tare se pot atrage firile opuse. Abby Richter (Heigl) este ambiţioasa producătoare a unui talk-show matinal de televiziune “A.M. Deşi nu-i convine să recunoască, ea are nevoie acum de expertiza lui Mike în materie de preferinţele bărbaţilor, pentru ca ea să n-o mai dea în bară şi de data asta. In prima parte a filmului ne aflam in anul 1987 si Jenna este o fetita de 13 ani, in pragul feminitatii. Problema este ca maturitatea nu soseste suficient de repede. Este sufocata de parintii ei ridicoli, ignorata de pustii la moda de la scoala si tipul dragut de care este indragostita abia daca ii stie numele. Pentru ca nu se mai multumeste sa isi petreaca timpul alaturi de cel mai bun prieten al ei si vecin, Matt Flamhaff, Jenna ii invita pe pustii populari la petrecerea ei aniversara de 13 ani. Dar petrecerea este un dezastru. Jenna se simte umilita cand este inchisa in toaleta pentru jocul “Sapte Minute in Rai” si toti o parasesc. Singura in toaleta, Jenna rosteste o dorinta din suflet. Daca ar fi o persoana matura, ar avea viata pe care si-a dorit-o intotdeauna. In mod miraculos, dorinta i se indeplineste. A doua zi, cand Jenna iese din toaleta, suntem in anul 2004, iar Jenna are 30 de ani. Mai mult, este o femeie superba si de succes (Jennifer Garner) cu o slujba foarte buna si cu un apartament incredibil pe Fifth Avenue. In sfarsit, are succes si este celebra. Singurul impediment? Nu are nici cea mai mica idee cum a ajuns acolo. Speriata la inceput, dar incantata gradual de noua ei viata, Jenna isi da seama in curand ca-i lipseste ceva – Matt. Cand il cauta, descopera cu groaza ca nu mai tin legatura si ca el este logodit. Jenna afla ca nu este suficient sa ai totul si decide sa mai dea inca o sansa primei ei iubiri.

Description: The movie then transports us to a thirty-year-old Jenna with the exception that she is only still thirteen on the inside but doesn’t remember anything since her thirteenth birthday. She soon realizes that her thirty-year-old self has everything that she wanted when she was younger, such as a cool apartment, a fabulous wardrobe, and a dream job. Jenna soon realizes that even though she has everything she could ever want when she was younger, there is still something missing. Without her best friend from 1987, she gets her assistant to track down Matt. To her dismay she learns that her and Matt have been estranged since high school and that Matt is now engaged. When Jenna shows up at Matt’s wedding, he gives Jenna back the dream house that she once through at him during her thirteenth birthday. Jenna leaves to find out that the wishing dust still works because we are then pulled back to the past to see a different story. Jenna tells off the girl she once wanted to be like and runs up the stairs with Matt to find that their getting married as there adult selves.
