The Young Victoria (2009)
“The young Victoria” este o drama istorica ce infatiseaza primii ani destul de turbulenti ai domniei reginei Victoria in Marea Britanie, precum si pasionala si trainica poveste de dragoste cu varul ei primar – atragatorul si fidelul print Albert. Incoronata regina in anul 1837 la varsta de numai 18 ani, Victoria a inteles ca destinul ei nu ii apartine si ca trebuie sa se dedice cu toata inima si cu toata energia de care dispune indeplinirii obligatiilor de monarh si pastoririi poporului care vedea in ea un simbol absolut al puterii.
Devastata sufleteste de moartea prematura a iubitului ei sot Albert, survenita in anul 1861, Victoria a imbracat haine cernite de doliu pana la sfarsitul zilelor sale si si-a petrecut cea mai mare parte a vietii in singuratate si izolare, jelind soarta nefericita a iubirii ei. Urmarind viata Victoriei din anul 1836 si pana in anul 1840, pelicula “The young Victoria” incearca sa schimbe perceptia publica asupra personalitatii reginei britanice, care a fost adeseori descrisa drept o vaduva acra si nesuferita, imbracata intotdeauna in vestminte de culoare neagra. Summary: Apart from having the longest reign in British history (63 years), Queen Victoria also holds two other distinctions. She was, apart from our current Queen, the oldest ever British monarch, living to the age of 81. And she was also the youngest ever British (as opposed to English or Scottish) monarch, coming to the throne as a girl of eighteen. And yet whenever television or the cinema make a programme or film about her, they seem far more interested in the older Victoria than they do in the young girl; the version of Victoria with which modern audiences will probably be most familiar is Judi Dench in “Mrs Brown”. “The Young Victoria” tries to redress the balance by showing us the events surrounding her accession and the early years of her reign. It has the rare distinction of being produced by a former Royal, Sarah Duchess of York, whose daughter Princess Beatrice makes a brief appearance as an extra.
