Last Chance Harvey (2008)
New yorkez-ul Harvey Shine este pe punctul de a-si pierde slujba de autor de reclame publicitare, fiind avertizat de catre seful sau ca mai primeste o singura sansa de a furniza un material de calitate. Harvey pleaca la Londra in week-end pentru a participa la casatoria fiicei sale Susan, promitand insa ca se va intoarce la New York luni dimineata spre a lua parte la o sedinta importanta, in caz contrar urmand sa fie concediat. Devastat de faptul ca propria fiica l-a ales pe tatal vitreg sa o conduca la altar, Harvey Shine pleaca de la nunta inainte de receptie direct la aeroport, dar pierde avionul si este concediat telefonic de catre superiorul sau.
Inecandu-si amarul in bautura la barul aeroportului, americanul o cunoaste pe Kate, o angajata trecuta de 40 de ani a Oficiului National de Statistica, a carei viata se reduce la munca, cicaleli interminabile din partea mamei ei si intalniri ocazionale umilitoare cu barbati necunoscuti. Harvey si Kate relationeaza imediat, iar legatura de suflet tot mai puternica care se creeaza intre ei ii inspira pe amandoi si le transforma pentru totdeauna existentele banale. Merita Vazut !
Summary: Poor Harvey Shine (Dustin Hoffman) is a would-be jazz pianist to whom fate has given the job of jingle writer for a Manhattan agency. We see him at work and get the feeling he is good at what he does, really understands the needs of the clients, but doesn’t really consider what he creates to be “music.”
His boss does not seem any too impressed with his latest output and actually suggests that he spend more time in England, where he is headed for his daughter’s wedding, than he had originally planned. Harvey declines, making the point that he needs to be back there for an upcoming pitch to an old client.
He departs for England, planning on a rapid turn around. His boss is not so sure.
On the way across the pond, Harvey tries to chat up a fellow passenger, but she’s having none of it. He’s left sitting there with egg on his face and we come to regard him as even more of a loser
