In Jordan, Reema si Omar se pregatesc pentru casatoria fastuoasa a fiicei lor Tala in spiritul traditiilor din Orientul Mijlociu. Intoarsa insa la locul de munca din Londra, Tala o intalneste pe timida, sensibila si ingenua Leyla, care provine dintr-o familie indiana de credinta musulmana, este iubita celui mai bun prieten al ei pe nume Ali si viseaza in secret sa devina scriitoare. Cele doua tinere se simt irezistibil atrase una de cealalta si se indragostesc nebuneste, dar simtul datoriei si restrictiile de ordin cultural si religios o indeamna pe Tala sa o paraseasca pe Leyla si sa fuga acasa in Jordan, acolo unde pregatirile pentru opulenta ei nunta sunt in toi.    Pe masura ce invitatii sosesc si ziua nuntii se apropie, presiunea ce apasa pe umerii Talei se accentueaza si aceasta cedeaza, recunoscand ca subiectul pasiunii si iubirii ei este de fapt Leyla, iar nu viitorul sot. In acelasi timp in Anglia, desi are inima zdrobita de durere, Leyla gaseste curajul de a le marturisi conservatorilor ei parinti adevarata ei sexualitate si de a merge pe drumul ei. Cu ajutorul lui Ali si al Zarei, sora Leylei, cele doua femei indragostite se vor regasi, dar va fi nevoie de mai mult decat o simpla intalnire pentru ca Tala sa reuseasca sa recastige increderea pierduta a Leylei. Summary: In the upper echelons of traditional Middle Eastern society, Reema and Omar prepare for the marriage of their daughter Tala. But back at work in London, Tala encounters Leyla, a young British Indian woman who is dating Tala’s best friend Ali. Tala sees something unique in the artless, clumsy, sensitive Leyla who secretly works to become a writer. And Tala’s forthright challenges to Leyla’s beliefs begins a journey of self-awareness for Leyla. As the women fall in love, Tala’s own sense of duty and cultural restraint cause her to pull away from Leyla and fly back to Jordan where the preparations for an ostentatious wedding are well under way. As family members descend and the wedding day approaches, the pressure mounts until Tala finally cracks and extricates herself. Back in London, Leyla is heartbroken but learns to break free of her own self-doubt and her mother’s expectations, ditching Ali and being honest with her parents about her sexuality. When Ali and Leyla’s feisty sister Zara help throw Tala and Leyla together again, Tala finds that her own preconceptions of what love can be is the final hurdle she must jump to win Leyla back.
