Cantareata Edith Bouvier Beale sau Big Edie(Jessica Lange), matusa lui Jackie Kennedy-Onassis, s-a casatorit cu avocatul new yorkez Phelan Beale si a dat nastere unei fetite botezate de asemenea Edith sau Little Edie(Drew Barrymore). Dupa ce parintii ei au divortat, iar relatia sa amoroasa cu un barbat casatorit pe nume Julius Krug a esuat lamentabil, Little Edie a venit sa locuiasca impreuna cu mama ei la conacul cu 28 de camere numit Grey Gardens din East Hampton - New York. Cele doua femei au trait timp de 24 de ani in izolare totala, refugiindu-se departe de lume una in compania celeilalte, intr-o casa plina de ratoni si pisici. Summary: Based on the life stories of the eccentric aunt and first cousin of Jackie Onassis (both named Edith Bouvier Beale aka “Big and Little Edie”) raised as Park Avenue débutantes but who withdrew from New York society, taking shelter at their Long Island summer home, “Grey Gardens.” As their wealth and contact with the outside world dwindled, so did their grasp on reality.
