Clubbed (2009)
Clubbed este povestea lui Danny, un muncitor intr-o fabrica, care este foarte singuratic. El este intimidat de viata, este umilit si batjocorit chiar si de copiii lui. Existenta lui futila se inneaca si mai mult in abisul pe care il are in viata lui. In pragul unei caderi nervoase, el decide sa lupte cu viata. Intr-o seara, intr-un club, el cunoaste niste oameni, “portari” la diverse cluburi, care se imprietenesc cu el si il invata sa aibe din nou incredere in el, si sa nu se mai lase calcat in picioare. Cu cat este mai atras in lumea lor, devine din ce in ce mai apropiat de un cap al mafiei, declansand o reactie in lant de evenimente care vor avea consecinte grave asupra vietii lui si a celor dragi.
Summary: Danny – a lonely factory worker, intimidated by life – is battered and humiliated in front of his kids in a random act of violence. His already bleak existence sinks further into the abyss. On the verge of total breakdown he decides to fight back. He meets a group of night-club doormen who take him in and give him the confidence to stand his ground. As he is drawn deeper into their world he becomes embroiled with the local gangland boss, setting in motion a chain of events with shockingly brutal consequences. Clubbed is a whopper of a big budget movie. It’s many movies in one. It’s a movie about boxing. It’s a movie about the early eighties disco scene. It’s a movie about mobsters, about the good guys and the bad guys. It’s a movie about how drug dealing can destroy relationships and lives. There are some stomach churning images of violence and also some harsh language so be prepared for that, but there are also plenty of touching moments. It is about a father’s relationship with his daughters, a flawed man’s relationship with his pregnant wife, a fearful man’s relationship with is ex-wife, and the camaraderie between grown men. Clubbed is a story about friendship, about fate, about revenge. It’s a big movie in every way, as perfect as a crime epic can be. Truly great cinema!
